Back in the early 1990s both major diesel locomotive builders introduced new models heralding a new era in railroading - the era of AC traction motors...  
EMD with their SD60/70/80/90MAC.  GE with their AC4400and AC6000.
Thus I'm betting ScaleTrains is following up their GE Dash 9s (the DC variant) with the GE AC variant AC4400s...

And I'm hoping they will commit to doing the side handrail stanchions correctly factory painted on the CSX as-delivered YN2 versions.
(They painted the bottom of the stanchions on the CSX YN2 C39-8s, but then said they couldn't do it on the Santa Fe 600 series Dashs 9s... So the question will be can they or will they do it)
 

I was curious if anyone was going to play a guessing game on this but have been too busy to dig through the posts and check. As much as I'd like to a see a really nice AC4400CW, I'm not sure that really qualifies as a "New Era" since the ET44AC is a model representing AC design already but this is the same company that proudly markets "first time in HO" with an asterisk so you never know! I put together a quick era/year graph of the models they have produced. This leaves the 1950s, 60s (not counting the GTEL) or earlier but i'm not sure i can image them coming out with the definitive S1 or S2! The models they have produced so far are a mix of major impact production models with a few niche models. Personally i'm hoping for the SD7/9!

Part of me thinks they might be referencing something else entirely, ie how the models are made, features or something related but i guess we'll find out.

The CB&Q is the featured railroad at Trainfest this year so I’m selfishly hoping it’s something from that ear and also available in N Scale :-)

I wouldn't mind a GP30, and think they may do that later (along with GP35)... but the concrete ties and continuous welded rail shown in the promo doesn't exactly scream the 1960s...
ScaleTrains already has the chassis and drive train for the AC4400, therefore it's a no-brainer to do it, and the sooner they announce it the sooner they can start pumping out runs of it...

I wonder if the lighting on the rails is akin to the lightning on the cab sides (CSX AC4400s)...

Wishful thinking, but a passenger diesel would be nice.  Granted most have been done or are being done, there are still some stragglers that would be awesome sellers.  The P30CH comes to mind.  E units could also be a cash cow if done right and with railroad specific details, especially 60s and 70s variants.

I’d sure like to see them dip into the four axle market.

I know it won't be an Alco - they refuse to do any Alco's.

How about an SD45?  It will be about time.

It will be a GP 30 A & B

DD35 and DD35A.

The other possibility is that the "new era" is a model feature we've been asking for...
Perhaps something like metal handrails that don't look bowed and immediately scream of being unpainted plastic.

I'll hope for a state of the art GP30.  Then, knowing Scale Trains, it will include the GP30B, the high hoods for N&W and the cab variations, plus maybe the GP30s that were rebuilt to GP39-2s for BN (still serving BNSF).  The rebuilds would provide a connection to Scale Trains preferrred "modern" stuff.  A GP30 frame and drive would also provide the basis for a GP35.  Since Scale Trains rises to the challenge of unusual locomotives then the GP35 could provide a link to the DD35 (the original B unit)

Fortunately, whatever we get from Scale Trains it will probably be quite good!

I'm crossing my eyes, toes and fingers for a NEW PAINTED version of a UP AC4400...........

I'm thinking GP30 plus variations as mentioned. Then down the road, GP35, and maybe the never done in plastic GP28. 

AC4400's at some point, maybe sooner than later. And the SD45T-2 could be announced also.
