Model Railroading > Rapido SP 7754 "As Built " Disappointment

So I got the long awaited model today and when I looked at it the model does NOT have the "As Built" twin Nathan K5H horns!
What a disappointment!
Rapido can't even get this right.
I immediately posted it on eBay.

Easy and cheap fix, no?

So you post it on eBay and won't mention the fact it doesn't have the correct horns? Way to "pass the buck" -- let it be the next guy's problem, right?

Might as well smash the thing to avoid the next guy from being just disappointed as you are.

I'm a bit of a rivet counter myself, but I wouldn't completely discredit an entire manufacture for something so minor it could be fixed in less than 5 minutes.
Ideal? No...but its way better than having to deal with mistakes other manufactures have made in the past.

WOW what a tantrum. A simple email to Rapido would probably produce a second horn. They really are good people. Drill a hole and stick the damn thing in. That's not even called modeling, its a simple process even a toy train player that has a Circle of track to see how fast things can go can do.
I could see the disappointment if there was some sort of mods that needed to be done, but this is just drill and stick.

Sometimes, it's hard to tell, so I have to ask:  is this tongue-in-check?  If so, it's kind of funny, given all the angst, and well, complete hissy-fits about these models.  If not, well, over-reaction wold be a polite term.

Well, it IS out there on eBay, so perhaps your latter observation is correct.

The one and only time I had an issue with a Rapido product and I returned it to them for repair,
Rapido threw in a bunch of cool extra stuff when they returned it back to me.  

Your loss that that you didn’t handle your issue politely and discreetly.

Rapido is to model trains as Gibson Thunderbird is to bass guitars

Given the responses by fellow TO members, you don't seem to be gathering much sympathy. 
Still, I looked at the issue and it would seem to be easily fixed. You will probably lose $$ by selling on ebay.

Time to take up another hobby.

I've had two occasions with a broken horn on my F40PHs.  I simply drilled out the hole and installed a Cal-Scale brass horn along iwth paint and it looks fabulous.

I have many nice Rapido models and I have spotted a few annoying errors amongst them too. I think the issue is Rapido's over-the-top advertising. They may be better than any other model builder on a specific model, but no Rapido is not perfect and it would do well to avoid overstatement.

Yep...no sympathy here.   Buy 2 detail west K5H's and drill a hole.  Or buy undec and make it what you want!  MODEL RAILROADING IS FUN!!

Pick,Pick,Bitch,Bitch.....about horns and incorrect 6"step-well issues, buy a Cal Scale Horn and drill a hole insert it and paint the stupid thing and complaining about a 6" issue with the step-well that is not overly noticeable get over it! If it bothers you that much fix it or sell them. ALL everybody wants is INSTANT GRATIFICATION, in some cases you need to do some - GASP - MODELING, that is what a lot of us did thru the years that didn't have the choices we have today. Be HAPPY with what you have to choose from. I have kitbashed many engines over the years and enjoyed it. Well, I better stop before I dig myself even deeper in a hole....

Oh such a nice way to greet a new item entering the market but hey this is train orders where the bitch and pitch are normal. Now that every one has griped about it go find something better for the price please and move on.
