Adding music and disco lights to a trackside bar
Author: Floridarailfan

I purchased a music “chip” and speaker and a disco light module but did not feel comfortable trying to solder the tiny hair like wires that were attached to these parts. I finally found an electronics repair shop to wire up the music equipment, but the disco lights didn’t happen. I contacted several firms for help, and nobody wanted to work on parts that weren’t purchased from them.

Does anyone have advice on where to get help for this type of project?

I dont know what your venue is for this project, but there are a couple of vendors of christmas light strings which are preprogrammed to run through a number of patterns using multicolored LEDs. They come in several sizes of "bulb" and may be powered from a battery or a wall outlet.

I picked mine up at Lowes or Home Depot and I think Target carried them too.

See if a local Model Train club has anyone willing to help.
High Schools use to have Electronic Clubs and Classes, check your local school district or Jr. college.
Senior Centers often have clubs or classes for 55+ adults in hobbies, like electronics or HAM radio.
Radio shack is long gone, but other electronic stores are around.
Model Train shops might have a repair service that could help.
Even a local computer shop might have a tech who will "freelance" for you.
Maybe we need a "Uber" for Electronics help.
