Troubleshoot sound issue with Rapido RDC3
Author: DocJohn

I returned to my Macon, GA, home for the weekend, and when I powered on my model railroad (Digitax Superchief system from 2003), my RDC-3 would not give sound even though other three Rapudo RDcs performed normally.  RDC3 will not give sound (have tried F8 on and off as well as turning track power on and off), but lighting and all other functions appear to be working normally).  I have not tried putting it on the programming track and resetting the decoder.  Anuthing else I should consider.

Thank you,

John

Check the speaker connections?

I tried resetting the decoder using CV8=8.  Still no sound.

If you decide to remove the shell to check the speaker wires, you could also try swapping decoders with one of your other RDCs to rule out (or in) a decoder issue. Rapido's instruction manual tells how to remove the shell.

Thank you very much for your post.  I did not want to try taking the shell off without detailed instructions.  I also want to install the current keeper in each RDC.

Consider adding some seated passengers as well. Seems to complement the appearance.
Great looking model.

If you're still having trouble, please email the warranty team. They have a lot of experience with RDCs and would be able to help diagnose the problem and/or walk you through a repair.

You can use the form here: https://rapidotrains.com/contact-us
