SSW Building America covered hopper
Author: ghemr

A friend on this website had recently sent me a photo of an SSW covered hopper with Cotton Belt lettering still intact. This reminded me that I had repatched one many years ago when Union Pacific was aggressively doing theirs! This model is an Intermountain ACF 4650 with patchwork per prototype examples. I removed the bulky stirrup steps and replaced them with the proper ones made by A Line. Also added some cut levers from Detail Associates. Hope you find this unique.......

Excellent job! When I watch covered hoppers go by on grain trains, they all initially look alike, but upon closer examination, they are all a little different.

All over the eastern seaboard, we see SSW and [sister] SP covered hopper cars of this type bringing RICE from Arkansas to various beer breweries everywhere.

Nice subtle weathering! Especially having the Billboard Lettering painted out.

This is a cool car... Now many of these cars are being patched again... To CAIX
