Beautiful images Dave!  Reminds me of wonderful memories of SP trains in the late 70's and early 80's around the Davis / Sacramento area where I lived as a teen and early twenty somthing.  The one thing I don't ever recall seeing were SP GE loco's, it seemed to all EMD.  Beet trains used to pass by my neighborhood heading up (what I later learned was called the west valley line) to Spreckles up north.  I don't recall what the power was on those trains.
