Bob the Train Guy

Has anyone dealt with this guy? I completed and paid for an order a week ago and have received no indication that it’s been shipped. I went to his website and called the phone number to inquire about it and the voice mailbox is full. Is this a reputable dealer?

I've purchased from him before and had no issue.  Ironically, I received an email flyer from him today, but it was a little criptic.  It was the Memorial Day Sale flyer, but it appeared the title block was modified.  It just stated "Emergency Surgery, Back in shop by Sat."  Sounds like Bob is in the hospital, hopefully nothing life threatening.  Perhaps give him this week and see what happens.

Thanks,
Sean

I've dealt with him for quite a few years and never had an issue.

He's a good friend of mine and will be back in the shop early next week if his surgery recovery goes well.  It's not my place to detail what type of surgery but he will be down for the count for a 5-7 days at least.

Had a package lost in the mail from him and sent him an e-mail.  Took him time to reply but he explained  he was having some medical issues.  He resent the package which I received today.  Have dealt with him in the past with no issues.

I ordered a decoder from him and it was crickets so I had to reach out to him a numbrer of timesasking where my order was.  It finally came nearly a month later.

I have ordered a number of times from Bob, and never been stiffed.  But the orders didn't go out very fast but the last one (above) I was wondering if I would ever get it.  I was a squeaky wheel and bothered him periodically and finally it arrived.

About 3 or 4 years back i ordered  3 decoders only got 2. He said 1 was on the way when stock was replenished, never heard anything. Called a month later couldnt get ahold of him. I called him about 6 months one Sunday afternoon, he said he remembered it,

\but i still haven't received it..

I just got off the phone with Bob, yes, that's his real name.  He has been in the hospital since Saturday and required emergency surgery.  Bob's hoping to be released tomorrow or Friday.  If you've got an order with him, like I do, hang in there.  He said he's got about 40 of them packed up, ready to go.  For those that don't know, he's a one man band.  So, if he's not there, nothing gets done.

BTW, I did have his permission to post this update.

Yes, I've talked to Bob as well.  He did say he was a one man show.so when items don't get shipped out in 3 or 4 days, I keep that in mind.  When it was approaching 30 days, I did have to be a squeaky wheel.

Hope he recovers soon.  Letting customers know of the situation helps.

Cheers,
Jim

He has handled this well by communicating to modelers unlike the Arrowhead model situation.  No one knows where that guy is a year after he dissapeared.

Here is what Jim Eager reported in the Modern Freight Car List (MFCL) earlier this week (below) and it sounds really bad and like Arrowhead Models has closed.  People say why hasn't a family member posted.  I don't know, just passing on what was said.

Jim

Blaine was involved in a very serious and truly life changing automobile collision.
