UPRR Track Work West of Alpine, TX...
Commencing with the operation of Trains 1 and 2 of the 14th and 15th of September 2006, the UPRR will be working (3) tie gangs replacing 153,500 ties working from east to west between the hours of 6:00 AM-CT to 3:00 PM-MT on the 1st thru the 8th and 16th thru the 23rd of each month from September through November. The work limits will be moving between MP610.74/Paisano west of the Alpine Station and MP692.02/Lobo on the Valentine Subdivision.

As a result Train 1 will be held up to 60” at the east end of the limits and Train 2 will be held up to 2’00” at the west end of the limits depending on the on time performance to that point.

The dates of the train originations are as follows: Trains 1 in September beginning with the 14th, 17th, 19th and 21st. Train 2 in September beginning with the 15th, 17th, 20th, 22nd.

Train 1 in October beginning with the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 15th, 17th, 19th and 31st. Train 2 in October beginning with the 1st, 4th, 6th, 15th, 18th, 20 and 22nd.

Train 1 in November beginning with the 2nd, 5th, 14th, 16th, 19th and 21st. Train 2 in November beginning 1st, 3rd, 5th, 15th, 17th, 19th and 22nd.

So THATS why the Sunsets have been losing lots of time between Alpine and here. Hope the track work finishes quick!

Well at least it aint lousy dispatching this time! I just hope UP is turning the corner on this, not just with Amtrak, but running their freights as well, when you lose a UPS Contract, what else can you do!
