Nice trip Chris, hope UP does do this more often than rarely since No. 5 was pretty much on time or close to schedule! Can't wait to see ya again when you head this way!

Chris, I asked this before and a few others have also, what does a Million miles on Amtrak cost? It would be interesting to see what all this would cost the average Joe to even attempt. Man you must have a lot of spare time or some unbelievable occupation to be able to pull this off.

Cheaper than driving I hope...

Reminds me of someone I know in Dunsmuir!

Less see, at Ten cents a mile it would be $100,000...That's my bet...

I never have wanted to know that because I enjoy it so much.
Sorry,

Chris, you're truly an inspiration to all of us who love to travel by train! I took my ride on the CZ last year in late September and the ride was nothing short of absolutely incredible, I wanted to ride in a sleeper but by the time I was able to book the trip, the cost of a sleeper (which was only available from Denver to Emeryville) cost more than my car payment! I'm "hoping" to get a trip in a sleeper from Chicago-westward this year, hopefully, I'll have enough AGR points! Great trip report and photos!!!

Good for you!! I'm sure that the therapeutic value far exceeds the dollar amount.
