Passenger Trains > Amtrak 5(11) Diner Bad-Ordered in Nevada ....

Due to a grill fire in the breakfast hour this morning west of Winnemucca, the diner on
the westbound California Zephyr was taken out of service during the breakfast period for
the remainder of the journey to Emeryville.

Don't know if special meal boxes were brought onboard for the Sleeping Car passengers. I
had my (coach passenger) breakfast and lunch from the Superliner Lounge cafe.

At first I thought the story read "Dinner bad ordered". Under most circumstances, that would make a lot more sense.

Reminds of an Amtrak trip east from Seattle. Looking out the window of my room in the morning was our diner; set out in Idaho. Not a good sign. I bailed in Butte, Montana, stayed until the next train two days later. The thought of junk food all the way to Milwaukee due to no diner, was too much to bear.
