>Doors 1 or 2 depending on car type This is the number of doors on each side of the car (they also have one door in each end). >Braking system(s) Air WABCo 26-C, which was also manufactured by NYABCo. Most Amtrak mechanical people don't know most of this data. Then again, it's Amtrak, so maybe we shouldn't be surprised. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/12/11 14:53 by EtoinShrdlu. You used to run a linotype machine, didn't you? Date: 11/13/11 21:50 Re: Superliner help Author: EtoinShrdlu >Whats interesting is the Car's Height, as it does change, due too diameter of the wheel
The height given in stats is what is called "nominal", which means "typical" and "what we desgned and built it to be". The actual height will vary with wheel diameter, but this can essentially be ignored because cars can't exceed their nominal height for clearance purposes. If they're less than nominal height on account of worn down wheels, clearance isn't an issue, so the lower height can more or less be ignored. >You used to run a linotype machine, didn't you? No, but when I thought up this here handle, it seemed a bit more spiffy than "qwerty". I usually draw a blank when making these things up, annoying when it happens too. In high school days, we named some etoin shrdlu in an article in the school newspaper just to see what our linotype buddies in print shop would do. |
