And there was collateral damage to the schedule of 796 and 785, which are experiencing one hour impacts to their schedules. Wrong time of day for a problem....even 11 was down 35 minutes although I can't reconstruct the exact sequence. Busy time of day for this track.

Morning traffic was impacted by maintenance on the line...a few trains were canceled before 14.

In a tastefully written headline, the local newspaper article today is titled "Homeless pedestrian killed by train identified."

"Donald Swanson, a homeless man from the Simi Valley area, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, said Chief Deputy Ventura County Medical Examiner James Baroni. Swanson died from multiple blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled an accident, Baroni said.

"Swanson was walking along the tracks near the 600 block of Cochran Street about 7:40 p.m. with another person when he was struck by Metrolink Train 123, which travels from Los Angeles to Ventura, authorities said. The other person was unharmed.

"None of the roughly 50 people on the train were injured, said Laura Magness, a Metrolink spokeswoman.

"The train was delayed 73 minutes due to the incident, Metrolink officials said.

"Besides being dangerous, walking on train tracks is trespassing. Commuter trains are quiet, so people may not hear them coming, officials said."
