Delay on Southwest Chief - #3

I see that the westbound Southwest Chief lost an hour and 12 minutes between Trinidad, CO and Raton, NM today. Could it have been because of freight train interference?!? :)

Delayed because of heavy eastbound empty traffic, empty after empty battling the passes, nothing but emptiness, in fact... - - JLH

It's now seven hours late. Any new info as to why?

Except for a few scattered to isolated t-storms, Sunday was a dry day in NM. Expect lots more monsoon moisture coming in tomorrow.

I'm wondering how far the ABQ-KNG crew made it on HOS ( hours of service )
Looks like a 4 hour hit in there

I was under the impression BNSF was not using Raton for freight movements, empty or otherwise. It appears that I am mistaken?

I think that comment was "tongue-in-cheek". AFAIK, there are no freight movements. This was confirmed by our Amtrak crew on Sat (and by actual experience).
