OK, I'll bite. Why are service offerings changing in San Francisco for a game that's being played in Seattle?

This is to protect Muni passengers, operators and equipment from lawless hoodlums who commit
acts of violence and destroy property as a way of "demonstrating" their joy in case of a victory,
or their anger in case of a loss.

The service changes are to take effect at 500pm, shortly before the end of the game.

Time to quote Frank Zappa and/or Harlan Ellison: "The two most plentiful things in the universe are Hydrogen and Stupidity."

Hm, wonder if there are any "service changes" in Seattle, Boston, or Denver? For all it's bad reputation, the last four sports championships in Detroit (all Wings) there wasn't enough violence to even make the news. Of course, there also weren't any train services to disrupt :(

Wow! Never would have thought about that. Talk about bowing to the mobs. Where are the Cossack's when you need them.?

Mob violence, extortion of money for stadiums, brain dead players, doping, abuse of women, politically incorrect and offensive mascots, and who knows what other horrors there are in pro sports. But don't mess with the PCC cars and cable cars in my hometown just because of a game victory!!!!! Now for something that is really serious. In our mass murder in the workplace, at school, on trains, in malls, in theaters, violence crazed society, why no such horror at games?

probably the weapons check before people enter the stadium.

In NJ, a number of people lost Jets seasons tickets when people in their seats engaged in violent activity. Caught on the videotape. Even if they had sold the tickets, etc. Made a huge difference in mob behavior immediately.

Sounds like Muni is going to turn off the power to the overhead for both the streetcars and the trolley buses.
Probably a pretty good idea.

Bad pr if dozens somehow fried on overhead wires. Amazing what has to be done to protect dopers and drunks these days. But no point in letting them damage the system.

Thats right, go ahead and tear up those "all weather" modes of transportation, but leave the damn rail system alone.

Too bad. Zapping losers is not a bad thing.

No service changes in Seattle (so far as I've heard), but the police do have plan to deal with over the top celebrations. And, the 49er's fan that gets picked on or worse at the CLink, may just be an undercover cop.

They're saving time and expense. Fatal accident investigations aren't cheap or fast.

I just checked the Market St. Ry. website (streetcar.org). There are 14 PCCs out and about on the "F" line. God's in His heaven and all's right with the world.

One thing I can't stand is people who take their team way too seriously, and that's been the norm the past few years!
