Leave it to the French. But of course it's the individual airline, not the manufacturer who decides how the interiors of their plans should be configured.

I can't imagine these being used, AT WORST, on any flights longer than 45-60 mins.........

If it ever gets approved by the regulatory authorities some outfit will try it. Can you say Spirit? But, as Airbus said, they patent all sorts of things that never see the light of day but are protected in case something sticks.

Didn't RyanAir once propose pay toilets and standing room only (with subway type grab handles) on one model of plane? That was shot down pretty quickly...

Not quite. Airbus is a consortium with interests in four countries, France being only one of them.

Lol - "Windows might soon be replaced by oars...."

Might be better to find out how to pack people in
horizontally - at least we could get some sleep.

Maybe it's time to consider that flying wing - the
one where the seats are spread out from wing tip to
wing tip.

Not. Amtrak is in the process of retrofitting its cars to add more seats. To do so, of course the spacing and seat back rake angles will have to be tightened up. Fortunately, it may take 10 years or longer to complete the process, and by then there will be changes in management attitude back the other direction to make train travel more comfortable than planes or busses.

This proposal makes fast-food restaurant seating seem luxurious.

How true. Meantime, Greyhound bus lines is increasing seating space and other amenities, putting in Wi-Fi that is both free and actually works.
