Passenger Trains > Amtrak #4 Southwest Chief with Double Phase III leadingDate: 07/14/14 13:53 Amtrak #4 Southwest Chief with Double Phase III leading Author: EspeeGoldenState With Phase III being my favorite Amtrak paint scheme and being home from work after hurting my back on Wednesday I seen that the 993 locomotives and cars were coming back east on this morning’s #4. Five locomotives and 14 cars, when was the last time a Southwest Chief was that long? Probably when they had MHCs and Roadrailers still.
It was only running roughly 2 hours late when it came around the corner. I caught it just west of Holliday on 47th St. 1) Approaching the crossing. 2) Going away shot with a big wave from someone? Date: 07/14/14 15:05 Re: Amtrak #4 Southwest Chief with Double Phase III lea Author: EspeeGoldenState The #4 already had 3 engines with 10 cars, but the Amtrak Boardman special that ran across Kansas, Colorado, and New Mexico had 145 and 822 on it. They added the engines and consist in Albuquerque, yesterday afternoon, hence what you see here.

I could see at least 4 Units being used. Jerry Martin Los Angeles, CA Central Coast Railroad Festival Date: 07/14/14 20:04 Re: Amtrak #4 Southwest Chief with Double Phase III lea Author: Railfan2 Will this train arrive into Chicago tomorrow?

I am very cautious there as even the eastbound freights seem to allow very little time once they round the corner.

That car was built from an original Viewliner that, from my understanding, has been out of service and stored for a long period of time. Boardman salvaged it and had it rebuilt for executive use.
