Some railroads have capacity improvement projects, others have capacity restraint projects. When they converted the old C&A mains between Bridgeport and 21st St. to storage tracks they swung the connection to Amtrak at 21st St over to the old IC mains and made it a single track connection. Also, when Brighton Park crossing was interlocked, they never upgraded the leaving signals at Bridgeport to recognize the interlocking and therefore the best a train can get is an Approach. So southbounds must ease around the curve just north of Brighton Park expecting a Stop Signal. Quite a route for High Speed trains. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/22/14 12:11 by Englewood. The one on the right is very much OOS in 006A, with a red flag in 007B. An aerial view now has them both in service, so I guess it was some sort of refit? |
