Passenger Trains > Wolverine 351(22) fatal pedestrian strike

Amtrak 351(22), only about ten miles from its origin at Pontiac MI, struck a
pedestrian pushing a bicycle near Catalpa and Maxwell in Royal Oak, MI. The
pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred just prior to the train's Royal Oak stop, at around 535am.

Witnesses reported to police that the pedestrian, Robert Turner, 37, had gone
around lowered crossing gates to cross the tracks.

Passengers were bustituted to their destinations. The crew requested relief;
a replacement crew arrived around 1030am.






 

Ruled suicide today by Royal Oak Police. So because some idiot doesn't treasure every minute of life, he choose to screw up plans for hundreds of people with his thoughtless actions. There are plenty of pills you can buy and take that accomplish the same thing without affecting others, I hear guns work also. Condolences particularly the Engineer who has to live with what he saw.
