I suspect quite a few riders are airline or airport employees.
On my last Front Runner trip a First Officer shared our seat set, he was going home, saying his wife sure enjoys picking him up at a local train station instead of driving to the airport.

It doesn't really matter who is riding it as long as people use it.  If travellers use the train to connect to flights, that is just another perk for visiting the area.  If commuters use if for work travel, it is another incentive for living in certain areas.  My personal opinion is that the SLC regional area is an example of how to effectively use what is available (for the most part) to build a useful regional transit system and not necessarily overspend in doing so (although no one, me included, is suggesting it is "cheap" by any means).

Reminds me of the time I visited St. Louis and rode their Metrolink system.  The line to the airport had quite a few flight personnel in uniform.  Going the other way (we were staying at the Casino Queen RV park), the train went past cornfields and had to slow down to let a deer cross the tracks.

UTA built a nice setup that is mostly convenient. They just don't start early enough or run late enough for me to use it to the airport when I fly to California. But the system does seem to get some good use.

As for the Geen line rebuild, it's being extended to the "new" terminal as part of the airport rebuild - almost everything is being replaced including the parking garage.

Funny to see all the missionaries on the train, they used to ride a bus up from Provo.
