#11 at Sharks Cove- sans Boat
Author: BoilingMan

#11(15) between Montecito and Summerland, a few miles RR east of Santa Barbara, CA.
A week or two ago I posted a few shots of 11 in this same location taken from The Boat, anchored in the cove below.  This evening I walked out for a more conventional shoot.

Hey, were you on your boat ⛵️ in the marina on Labor Day weekend when that microburst hit the beach areas of Santa Barbara? I have a sister who lives there and told me about it. Saw some videos about it also on YouTube. Pretty amazing, had never heard about that weather occurrence before.

Yes, we were in our slip. I was below and actually heard it coming- a loud roar behind people screaming. I stuck my head up to see what was going on just as it hit. They say it was an 80+mph blast! It rolled us over about 20-25deg, and then we righted- no damage.
I got busy running around lashing down stuff on various neighboring boats. The whole event lasted maybe 15min.
(It was kinda cool!)

Not too often you can shoot into the sun and get good results like that!

Hey- photography's easy if you don't quite know what you're doing!
