Passenger Trains > Lance (R-NJ): The money's there for Gateway Tunnel

Congressman Len Lance (R-NJ) was interviewed earlier today on Bloomberg TV. Asked about the transportation funding bill, he made the following comment. "We got $540 million for the tunnel. We are competing for some of the three billion dollars in additional funding. This is an incredibly important element of the transportation mix for the entire east coast, and for the country."

Lance sits on the Commerce committee. The five term legislator's seat is viewed as a possible flip given the wide spread unhappiness with the recent tax bill's change to state and local tax deductions. His district includes several towns along the Raritan Valley / Jersey Central route, including Westfield, and towns along the one time Lackawanna Gladstone branch.

He has just about the entire Raritan Line, except Plainfield, which is Pallone's territory.
While he comfortably wins every election, Hillary won his district by 1%. His closer challenge is a Tea Party challenger for a Primary.
