Passenger Trains > Will Metro-North, LIRR get PTC done?

Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) is leaning on the NY Metropolitan Transportation Agency to speed up installation of testing of Positive Train Control on its main railroad lines. Schumer has been a frequent critic of the state run agency, and his attention has increased in the wake of several fatal rail accidents.

Recent articles in the Westchester Journal News have cast considerable doubt on whether the 12/31/2018 deadline will be met. So, the senator is lighting a fire under the agency, and its patron, Governor Andrew Cuomo. By all reports, Schumer isn't a participant in the near daily barbs hurled between the Governor and Mayor Bill DeBlasio over the MTA subways.
