So, the R179s are dope-assembled junk.
Wonderful.
Send 'em back!

Ironically, the still-running, Budd 1960s well-built R32s, passenger-favorite cars with, large windows, fluted stainless exteriors easily de-grafittied, GE overhauled, simply need ANOTHER OVERHAUL!
NEXT!

As a Canadian, I am hopeful that Bombardier will soon be completely out of business!
I am sick of my tax dollars going to this company to bail it out of multiple fiascoes created by inept management.
From what I have seen, many other Canadians agree. Except those in Quebec.

And that's the reason it will still get government support and stick around.
It keeps the politicians in Quebec happy and quiet.

Of course NJT is still dumb enough to order from these people, and for a new invention of a custom-built multi-level catenary power MU car at that.

They were overhauled by M-K in Hornell. (You are thinking of the R38). Their MDBF is around 32,000 miles, which by present NYCT standards is pretty lousy, though the cars are 54 years old. The 49 year old R42 have just 25,000 MDBF, though more recent SMS.

54 years makes them the 2nd oldest rapid transit cars in the world, the oldest being some ex-German cars running on the North Korean subway.

All Bombardier had to do was replicate the R160 and they still screwed up. The small fleet of R179's  will not be able to MU with the R160 (or 143) in service

And do we know exactly how much of my hard earned, Canadian dollars, (earned in Quebec imagine that) Bombardier gets from the Canadian gov't these days?

A bilingual, bicultural society makes many things much more difficult...differing languages and cultural expectations often cause confusion and slow problem solving...

Then again, the Amtrak Acelas -- built by Canada's Bombardier and France's Alstom, were eventually made to work well --  but not until Amtrak took over their maintenance from the "shotgun marriage" of NECMSC, jointly run by the same two companies that built the trains.  In fairness, Amtrak was also aided by a senior executive manager who had spent his prior life working in ship maintenance in the Navy, who joined Amtrak and introduced/applied the concept of RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) to the Acelas, after first getting FRA advance approval of the detailed RCM maintenance plan to verify compliance with FRA/CFR regulations. I believe  Amtrak is still unique in the US rail industry its use of this approach, whose requirements are outlined at the end of the CFR section on locomotive maintenance.  The end result was that Amtrak, which previously had 6 of its 20 trainsets out of service for required maintance, was able to reduce that number to 4,  allowing 2 more trainsets (16) to operate in revenue service every day.

Unfortunately -- and proving the old adage that "no good deed goes unpunished" -- when Joe Boardman became Amtrak CEO, he forced the RCM exec out of Amtrak, where he was immediately hired by a private firm at a substantial salary and benefits increase. :-)

Thank you Gene.

Many companies and corporations are banning the ability to access shortcut URLs due to rampant malicious use of those.

Kind of like playing Russian Roulette or Whats behind door number 2.
