A CGW F-Unit Friday from Walt Dunlap

See the star on the sign post in the first picture.  Right, I didn't know what is was either.  So I asked Walt and he said it "is a flanger warning. If you are plowing snow, and you some how see it, you hoist up the between-the-rails flange blade to avoid taking out crossing materials."

1. CGW F3A 102-C with a Clarion, IA bound 74 car freight at Hayfield, MN on October 27, 1962.

2. CGW F3A 107-A heads a southbound extra near Simpson, MN on  December 6, 1963.

3. CGW F3A 110-A (built in March 1948) at the Running Repair Shop, Oelwein, IA in August 8, 1962.
