Ohhh, probably a lot longer than that — argue with a machine, and pay the price. Suicide is not painless — Auf Wiedersen, trespasser. Stay off the tracks and stay alive !

Amtk 14 on the move up to paso station at 715 pm.  Crew relief from SLO will happen there.  No talk if there will be a delay waiting for new crew.

Not a good day, Amtrak 22 hit and killed a pedestrian (jogger) along the tracks this afternoon just after leaving Fort Worth, took about a 3 1/2 hour delay.

Wow... Just looked at one of my old journals— from Feb 1989! Struck a car at Le Grand on the ATSF— 4 fatalities... Cleared to depart 1’ 15” later... Was a disturbing scene, but my train didn’t “swerve” to strike them. They intentionally went around lowered gates and experienced the unfortunate consequences of such a reckless action. You have life on one hand, and death on the other — really, that’s what it comes down to—and it’s on you if you want to argue w/ a machine.
How times have changed....
A single trespasser incident and it takes 4 hours to get released?!?
Again — wow...

Usually took 3-4 hours on metrolink as the wait to remove the body depended on when the coroner showed up, even if it was clear of the train. The local deputy dogs would then decide to play CSI because one of them couldn't decide on cause of death. Hum, let's see here, big metal object that couldn't swerve hits person that doesn't belong on track. That would make for a tough call for some I guess. The days of "yup, he's dead now move along" are long gone.

Yes, very surprising.  See previous thread about the incident yesterday afternoon with #22.

I was on a train from La to the old Oakland Station we hit someone at the Coliseum killed all 4 people. Felt the bump and everything. Took 4.or 5 hours to go. Sucked since I was 5.mins from.home, but minor compared.to.the loss of.life.

Coroner must have been around the corner. LA county has 1, mayber 2 and they can be anywhere, you just wait until they show up.
