The Santa Fe loaned us a Jordan Spreader to help clear it. Slides there are somewhat controlled by the property owners on top of the bluff. If they control runoff by directing it into storm drains in their streets the ground is much more stable. We had two slides the same place between switches at the Capistrano siding that orignated in a car dealer's lot. He had ignored cracks in his pavement and a large part of his lot ended up draining into those fissures, turning the bluff of compact, dry soil into mud. He or his insurance company paid all our cleanup costs but the service interruptions were unpleasant to the Amtrak and SCRRA passengers.
