Passenger Trains > #8/27 with 130 leading doing a small wreck detour

I'm on board. Yesterday across Montana we gradually lost time due to slow orders (guessing) and heavy freight traffic. We finally made that up with the padding in St. Paul. Now, right at departure time, they announced that there is a freight derailment ahead. It seems to not be too bad, we are backing out of the station to get on a different main track to get around it. I'll try to get pictures of it.

The UP derailed a sand car right at the east approach to SPUD yesterday, I am guessing your detour was related to that.

I'm on #7 - Just left Minot. We have at least six slow orders ahead of us. The derailment at the entrance to SPUD caused us to back in. Not too much of a delay.

#7 also did a back up move into the station last night do to the derailment.

Is SPUD set up something like Toledo, normally go in on one end and out the other ?
Why is it impossible to set out and pick up PV's or a Chicago cut coach there ?

Thanks for the info. I didn't see the car but they seemed to be doing trackwork. Got some photos of that as well as a lot of Minnesota Commercial power.
