Passenger Trains > AMTRAK 20-8 Delayed 3 Plus Hrs And Counting

AT 10:00 eastern AMTK 20 has not moved for the past 3 + hours and is stopped east of CP DeArmanville MP 729.1  Radio communications indicates that east bound NS 172 (NEW ORLEANS, LA (UP QLINSL) - LINWOOD, NC) running ahead of 20 has experienced 2 broken knuckles as it was working it's way up Iron Mountain just west of Heflin Alabama. 

And as luck would have it.. This isn't the usual north bound Crescent today.

Power #150, #173 & #138
Cars 25108, 25093, 25008, 25045, 28022, 68012, 62010, 62026, 61052
PLUS.... 62016, 10020 Pacific Bend Sleeper and Theater Car 10004.

OH Brother!!  NOT Good At All!!!

Any confirmation that officials are on board in the theatre car? Would be really curious about the train makeup of that NS freight too.

In the past I have seen NS 172 as a smorgasbord of a train. Often times will have a cut of autorack or even have single autoracks (or twinkies) scattered.
Plenty of loaded covered hoppers, box cars and tank cars. Can be upwards of 11K tons and 6.800ft. As a rule 3 units sometimes 4. All on line.

The first knuckle to go was on the first car behind the power. After replacing and pulling way a second knuckle broke. Did not hear  car location in consist.

It was well after mid-night that AMTK 20 arrived in Atlanta and is currently showing with a 6 HR plus delay.
