Coast Starlight #11 at Paso Robles
Author: SPB

The first two attached photos are of the southbound Coast Starlight arriving at Paso Robles today.  Ten or twelve passageners disembarked while about the same number boarded.  The third photos is of the Starlight departing Paso Robles just south of the station.  The center beam flat car and two box cars on the team track lead are probably from the lumber yard across the tracks.  #11 departed on time at 1:38 pm.

Not that its really important......but the cars of lumber on the team track are for either Weyrick Lumber, and Diamond Pacific , which are a few miles south of the team track, at the very north end of main st, templeton.
Big Creek, on the other side of the tracks, has their own siding.

I have a track map of Paso Robles c1985, here somewhere...from before most of the tracks were pulled up.  There were 7 RR sidings/consignees and 2 yard tracks,
Now there's just the team track, Big Creek, and 1 yard track, that used to be a passing siding..but now only connected on the south end.

Planning a trip up there soon...

Would it be possibly to beat 11 from Paso to Santa Margarita?

You should be able to make it from Paso Robles to Santa Margarita ahead of the Starlight.  The freeway entrance is close to the PR station, then it is all freeway to Santa Margarita, 15 to 16 miles distance.   Freeway speed is faster than the train.
