I'm ticketed to take San Joaquin 711 in two weeks. Does anyone know if they use comet cars or the California cars on this train?

Should be the comet cars.

On Saturday & Sunday's when I am out and can see 711, it rarely has had Comet set lately.

710 usually is using one set, although last sunday was a standard double level CA car set.

On my recent trip, I was walking to the ferry at Oakland when 711 arrived quite late, and I grabbed this photo. Saturday December 21st 2019. Chris uk.

That train is a standard bi-level CA car consist with the baggage car added for axle count.

The Comet set runs with an extra Comet car for axle count.

711 uses the bi-level California cars.

Unless there is a service disruption, 711 will use comet equipment. Currrent equipment turns have 701-704 and 711-716 using comet sets.
