Rode these type cars on Brightline back in February--very smooth ride and was overall impressed with their appointments.

Thanks, Jim— they actually look pretty good, and like I said, they rode great on the Brightline this past Feb— almost pulled the pin w/ our outfit! Might not be bad to hire on w/ Brightline — even at the bottom— for my my last 3 years!

If their interiors are appointed the same as Brightline cars they are excellent. Far superior to Amfleet or Horizon cars.

look at the size of those windows! Much better than Amfleet

Are there, or will there be, cab cars in this series?  Or are they to be run "Top & Tail", as the British say?   So far I see only coaches and cafes.

Oh, and what are the car numbers?  And Stan, are you out there?  What about car names!  I suspect maybe that practice has been retired along with you...

Fixed seven car sets with a cab car.  Note that the illustration has the
"exhaust deflector" removed from the Charger.

This link directs to a presentation made in February this year at the "PRIIA Section 305 Next Generation Corridor Equipment Pool Committee (NGEC) 10th Annual Meeting" (whew!).

It looks like cab cars are due next year (no doubt some additional engineering and testing required).  The .pdf also has some comments about the merits of a cafe vs. vending machines for food service.

So when, not if, the cab car gets clobbered at a grade-crossing, they lose coach capacity.

I would imagine so, just like any other cab car that gets hammered.

Does Brightline have cab cars or run with locomotives at each end ?

Would probably be a good idea for the San Joaquin too. There are a lot of big agricultural trucks in the valley.

Too bad they didn't stick with the paint scheme as depicted in the computer rendering. Much more coehisve with the locomotives compared to the paint scheme they were delivered in.
