Passenger Trains > What happened to AMTK#776 on 21 NOV?

Hi there.

Does anyone know what happened to Amtrak Surfliner #776 on 21 NOV? It was supposed to get into San Diego at 310P, but only made it as far as Oceanside, where they turned it to become #783. Of course, this was the one day when I needed to catch #783 out of San Diego at 4P, so I was pretty "disenchanted" when I got to the station at 355P and was told that the train as "annuled." Passengers hanging out at the depot at 330P were directed onto the Coaster that left at that time, which would catch the train at Oceanside, which didn't really help any of us who arrived later. And, of course, the next train didn't leave until almost 6P.

Anyhow, to make a long story even longer, I drove up to Oceanside (traffic sucked on I-5), and hopped on the train there with minutes to spare -- fortunately, the assistant conductor was ultra-cool after hearing my story and didn't give me grief about not buying a ticket in the station before boarding.

I'll still take the train over driving, however.

I must have been dreaming or you got the date wrong. Rode 776 from SIM-SOL today & watched it head east after 581 arrived SOL.

Don't you mean on Nov. 20? I was there in San Diego on the 20th, and I find it hard to believe that this would happen 2 days in a row. On the 20th, I heard that there were technical difficulties, which can mean all sorts of things.

783 went through Fullerton tonight at 7:15 PM -- over an hour late. Something obviously happened.

Too many passengers so alot of time lost entraining & detraining both on 776 & 783.

You guyz got me on the wrong date...it was on TUESDAY, 19 NOV.

What year? <G> Well, you're getting closer. Tuesday was the 20th, coinciding with what another poster said about technical problems on the 20th.
