Passenger Trains > The Old And The New In TacomaDate: 01/19/21 09:09 The Old And The New In Tacoma Author: walstib The old and the new in Tacoma, or you could call this the $6 million backdrop.
One of the fun parts about Amtrak moving to the inland, Point Defiance Bypass route, is finding new places to take pictures. I spotted this old building last year when shooting Sounder commute trains, but it wasn't until Amtrak ran test and training trains this past weekend that I figured out how to get to the right spot for this shot. The century-old brick building, built during the heyday of Tacoma's furniture making era, once housed the Wilamette Casket Co. The 240,000-square-foot building sold for $6 million in 2018, and reports say it is fully leased. Pictured is the final southbound test run on Saturday. the planet Uranus. Very nice photo by the way, that old building looks like it would be worth working into a lot of photos. Jeff Date: 01/19/21 17:46 Re: The Old And The New In Tacoma Author: towazy "Headlights" in the wrong place, but otherwise an uncanny resemblance!
Tom Date: 01/19/21 20:52 Re: The Old And The New In Tacoma Author: SPbird Ok I know these things were built to American safety standards, but how in the World are these things built nearly as safe as say a more F59 or P40-style design where the engineer sits way higher up? Still baffles me..
