Passenger Trains > Winter Hits Chicago

What seems to be the new norm... Same old, same old. 

5 - 1 hour and 44 mins late out of Chicago. "unforseen equipment swap"

364 - 2 hours and 11 mins late out of Chicago. "unforseen mechanical issues"

305 - 15 minutes late out of Chicago. "late yard release"

383 - 27 minutes late out of Chicago. "late yard release"

354 - 15 minutes late out of Chicago. No reason cited. 

370 - 7 minutes late out of Chicago. 

30 - 55 minutes late out of Chicago. "late release of equipment"

59 - 1 hour and 6 minutes late out of Chicago. "unforseen equipment swap"

48 - Declared as "will be a late departure" at 7:55pm. We will see how late it leaves Chicago. 

Did you really expect anything else?  We all know that the wrong people are in charge of Amtrak and that many changes need to be made from the top on down.

Only 5 of the 9 are considered late; the other 4 are on-time per Amtrak's 30 minute or less rule.

That's not bad considering how things at times do get up there when snow shows up, anyone remember when Ed Walker was in charge over there?

If  the train departs late, the passenger considers it late.  That is ALL that counts.  The passenger should run this railroad.  Amtrak has never understood who is paying their bills.  It is the passenger.  

Amtrak's arrogant attitude is: sorry, we are doing the best we can.  Their work is not good enough.  Poorly organized, poorly managed, Chicago every year seems to "discover" that it is winter.............

For most of them it is their first winter because they didn't work for Amtrak last winter.

Actually 7 minutes late is the magic number for a “lost train” that goes against managements initial terminal bonus. That’s the number that really matters.
