The NYCTA Holiday Subway Train Running This Year on IRT 1 Line
Author: Passfanatic

=12ptThis year, the NYCTA Holiday Train will be running on the IRT 1 Line from Chambers St to 137th St and back. The consist will feature the cars like the R33s and R38s and any other car that makes up "The Train of Many Colors." It will be running on four consecutive Sundays from the end of November to the middle of December. Looking at the timetable, I certainly hope that this train can keep up with the timetable. The 1 train route is truly a local.

Glad they are getting a holiday train together, but yea, ride from hell that seems like it stoips everu quarter mile.  Its the worst.   Shades of the AA and RR, which also stopped everywhere.   The J train is pretty bad too.

Bowling Green to 96th Exp on the lex line would be nicer...lol...

PS..Is the old south ferry station still in existance?    Can u still get from the lex line to the 7th ave line thru the old  south ferry station?

#5 trains that terminate at Bowling Green would deadhead around the inner loop of South Ferry. But there is no place on the Lex in uptown Manhattan that they can turn a train back.

There are so many planned weekend disruptions uptown on the IND that they decided to not do it this year.

Yes, on the B division route which the holiday train has operated on in the past, there are going to be many service disruptions on that route. I’m looking forward to being able to see the train outdoors at the only station of 125th St. If the 2 and the 3 train are running express on those Sundays, it may even be possible to photograph the holiday train at a stop shared with the express subways, and take the next express subway to a station and be able to get ahead of the holiday train. For example, you possible could be able to photograph the holiday train at 14th St, take the next express train as far north as 96th St and then pick up the holiday train there. The holiday train will be following the same exact local stop pattern as the 1 train.

207th Street and Concourse yards on the IND will be inaccessible, and 3 of the 9 R1-9 cars have not moved since 2021. It's IRT or nothing.
