Passenger Trains > Moynihan train hall usage by LIRRDate: 01/23/23 10:04 Moynihan train hall usage by LIRR Author: lordsigma I got off Amtrak 141 last Wednesday (with a later connection to 97) on one of the tracks shared withLIRR just as an LIRR train came in. I was shocked at substantial amount of LIRR passengers who went up to Moynihan and a decent amount of them seemed to be going up there to go to some of the vendors in the building for coffee/breakfast/etc. With the lack of amenities in the LIRR concourse the Moynihan vendors seem to be benefiting.

LIRR passengers tend to congregate more on the eastern end of trains. The rear 2 cars of a 12 car trains, of which there are many, do not platform at Jamaica, and there are several stub end eastern terminals. Most diesel trains are 4 cars, and that is a long walk east when transferring at Jamaica from the 10th car of an MU.

IDK With 2 minutes transfer time, hoping they don't announce "All Aboard Track 8" and close the doors while walking up. Nope. They'll ride the east end out of Penn Station. Walking between MU car pairs is hazardous at 80 MPH. There are no diaphragms or chains, just a grab iron. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/23/23 17:10 by joemvcnj. |
