Wolverine 350/353 suspended July 31st-Oct. 3rd
Author: inCHI

Just saw an alert saying that "due to infrastructure improvements by Amtrak and MDOT" 350/353 are suspended Monday-Thursday from July 31st - Oct. 3rd. Anyone know more info? Seems a bit wild to not be able to work around them for months. Not sure what stretch this is, but on most of it, it would be only 6-8 Amtrak trains a day.

Give them a large undisturbed work window so they can get the job done faster?

Sure, but I'm wondering what kind of work requires that for two months. Is it major track upgrades to increase speed on curves? That could make sense. I haven't yet been able to find an explanation of the work on MDOT's or Amtrak's site.

The scope of this work is getting the line between Albion and Jackson to 110mph standards. I was hopeful this was to be the year that the entire line from CP-482 to CP-Townline (excepting CN joint trackage between CP-Gord and CP-Baron in Battle Creek) would finally be at the 110mph standard. Alas, it looks like the final segment from CP-75 (ex CP-Jackson) to Townline will have to wait until next year or longer.
