Passenger Trains > 150th anniversary MARC Special May 29.

To celerate the 150th anniversary of the 1873 opening of the former B&O (now CSX) mainline between Point of Rocks, Maryland and Washington DC, a special MARC train is scheduled to leave Silver Spring at 11am Monday May 29 stopping at various cities for ceremonies along the way to Brunswick.  As an example, a speech by the mayor along with a band to welcome the train is scheduled for Gaithersburg, Maryland from 12 noon to 12:10.  The 600 or so seats on the train were sold out several days ago.

This is very nice! It will give those railfans an opportunity to photograph MARC action and even ride a MARC train during a major holiday on the Brunswick Line.
