I came to Wellington and New Zealand to photograph, video and ride all the trolleybus routes before they are closed next year or as early as the end of this year. Much like my hometown of Dayton Ohio the trolleybuses here do not operate on the weekends but unlike Dayton there is way too much to do in a weekend here in Wellington. Yesterday it was the Musuem of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Today it was Zealandia. This left very little time to check out the extensive Metlink commuter service, most operated by EMUs (not emus, they are in Australia). I did manage one halfway decent video of an EMU coming into the Wellington station this one the very scenic short Johnsonville Line for which the signal lights up clear after the EMU clears the interlocker. I had to hand hold the camera against a fence because Wellington is windy.
