This is the station where eastbound freight trains stop to drop off the helper after the summit of Senohachi Grade. EF210-117 was built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Kobe and based at Okayama. It is part of the second order of EF210s which have IGBT transistors in the inverter instead of GTO thyristors used in the prototype and -0 group. EF210-117 was being pushed by the venerable EF67-102. I grabbed a picture of the -102 as it waited for a signal to return west to Hiroshima Freight Terminal. EF67-102 started life as class EF65-131 built in July 1970. It was rebuilt as EF67-102 in May 1990. The EF210-3xx class are being built to replace the EF67s in helper service over Senohachi Grade. So far, 10 EF210-3xx series have been built and entered service March 2013. The next eastbound had another goodie on the point, EF66-132, second to last EF66 built in October 1991 by Kawasaki Heavy Industries utilizing Toyo Electric electrical gear. daniel Date: 02/02/18 16:31 Re: JR Freight Rail Overview Presentation Author: bakersfielddave here are some more from one of my recent visits around Japan
