Last Chile Post

FCAB happened to be having an open house/fair on their property on the last day we were in Chile. There was a Northern British 2-8-4T and an AIA-AIA trucks SW1200W on display. There were alos a pair of NF210s on display in another area (not for the fair but for being on sale). We asked to see those but were told we couldn't get close to them. We were allowed over in the display area where there was another Northern British 2-8-4T. Just a couple hours later on was on the first of three planes that would bring me back to LA.

A Fairmont VW Beattie!  All awesome pics! Time to stretch an Athern SW to acomodate Alco PA trimont trucks! What a great shortline unit for light lb rail! And make it narrow gauge too boot!

One last question.  At the high altitudes of that desert what do the summertime temperatures rise to?

High temps in the summer over 100 but Calama is often the coldest spot in the entire country,  both summer and winter.  Can get somewhat humid (not by Houston standards) when the afternoon clouds form in January-March.

Like the two old wood coaches with the windows covered over. For the sun or banditos.
