After 50 Years since they arrived in 1971-75 they are still preforming.Loved by the crews ( Compared to the invaders from china)
In the 50 years I ran them, I never had a breakdown, to me a testement to a fine Machine. long live the "Dixies" as they were nicknamed!

Nice clean lines on those machines. 'Not sure about the horn placement on the #5016, though.  No naps on that unit... LOL.

What purpose or reason for the horn behind the cab in the first image ??  BTW nice images.

Nixe series. We had U26C in Brazil. Nowadays there is just one unit in Vale mining fleet, but it has a GM G12 prime mover.

Hi.
Horn placed in this position, for any long hood running, which was very rare. You never realy noticed it when sounded.
