International Railroad Discussion > 97-year old railbus in action, EFE ChileDate: 03/27/23 11:12 97-year old railbus in action, EFE Chile Author: masterphots Hi
With covid restrictions all lifted, EFE is back to running various excursions. These include a 20 mile railbus trip on the meter gauge line between Los Andes and Rio Blanco, Chile. This is the surviving segment of the Transandina line that connected Chile with Mendoza Argentina. It is still with us due to the Codelco Andina copper mine which requires shipping copper concentrate by rail. Yesterday I decided to chase it a bit and here is the 97-year old GM Truck Division bus at Vilcuya meeting with a downgrade load of copper concentrate. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 03/27/23 13:37 Re: 97-year old railbus in action, EFE Chile Author: E25 Cool photos of an interesting operation, Alan.

EFE employee shooting for their website. btw, no real danger around the station as the Fepasa train started blowing its horn a mile away and then entered the station at a speedy 5 mph.
