Chile GE-Alco Shovel nose action
Author: masterphots

This is it with these vintage units,  promise.  With the two units finally lettered I thought I'd post a few shots from March 23, 2024.  The Epson scanner deleted a bit of lettering on a couple of shots but it's really there. This vintage train ran from Santiago to a winery on the line to Los Andes.  They were celebrating the grape harvest and the days were long enough to get the return trip.  All have 16005 in the lead with 16012 trailing.

1. Passing the chemical works at Catemu.
2-3.  E. Meiggs.  I'm always surprised how long these units are.

Great set of pics. It's a pity I didn't took some videos. We'd love to hear theirs sounds.

Great work Alan. Those GE's look right out of the factory fresh.

These broad-gauge units look similar to the narrow-gauge White Pass & Yukon beasts.

How old are they? A1A-A1A or C-C?
V-12 FDL in each?

I know they aren't exactly the same but the trucks on those beasts sure remind me of what was used under GE U25C's.
