Thanks to all of those who reply. MilwMike Date: 07/13/13 15:17 Re: ATCS and smart phones Author: DTrainshooter MilwMike Wrote:

You run ATCS software on your home computer and the remote software allows you to look at your home screen on your smartphone. ATCS software is Windows-only software. ABSOLUTELY NOT! So please Dtrainshooter explain to us how can be done... Thanks! I do both almost on a daily basis and it works perfectly.

There are a number of vier/client apps out there for the Android: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=vnc&c=apps and there's just as many out there to make your computer intoa the server. After you choose and install the products, you start up ATCS on your computer at home, and start up the VNC server. Then, once you're out trackside and want to check ATCS, fire up the VNC app and connect to your home PC. Anything on your computer's screen will appear on your smartphone, as if the smartphone was another monitor. Of course, if someone at home is now using the computer, you'd effectively be spying on what they're doing. There could be other small issues (firewall, power-saving on your PC, etc) that could cause issues, but those get particular to your situation and VNC programs you use. Personally, I take my laptop with me when I go railfanning, and use my smart phone to give my computer internet access. ATCS doesn't count much against the data stream, and even a slower 3G connection is enough to keep ATCS happy. -Eric Date: 07/17/13 13:05 Re: ATCS and smart phones Author: jad742 I use Logmein... I know they have an app for Iphone and Ipad, not sure about an Android app. But it works great, especially on the Ipad.

Would the smart phone / ATCS option work if the computer was a tablet (iPad, etc)? It would seem that it should work. Thanks Date: 07/30/13 15:41 Re: ATCS and smart phones Author: DoctorThunder ATCS will only run on Windows, not Android or iOS so the computer it is running on to log into remotely has to be a PC and running windows.
