Download from where? I downloaded it from the Mozilla site just fine. No warnings.

Development has been discontinued but it's still there.

As of mid December 2015, talks were moving forward about making Thunderbird part of LibreOffice.

I have been moving away from a stand-alone email client, but I occasionally need a way to save an email to my desktop, such as permission to use a photo, or a license from purchased software program. I use LibreOffice quite a bit, since Microsoft doesn't need any more of my money, so I'll be watching this possible team-up between LibreOffice and Thunderbird closely.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird. Today when I booted up my ancient PC and opened Thunderbird I received a notice that an update was available.

I downloaded it without any problems and then downloaded my email without any problems.

Some of these older products are really mature, and only
need security updates...
