Hi.
Would anyone be able to offer their thoughts on the purchase of a good used slide projector?
Thank you.

Funny this should come up now. My slide projector and I were invited to a slide show yesterday. We went.

I was boasting how happy I’ve been with the used Kodak carousel projector I bought used in 2011.

I bought it at a camera store (I know, vanishing breed.)

I’m not sure where you are located, but I would first call a real camera store and chat them up.

If nothing else, try Samy’s on Fairfax in Los Angeles, or Glazer’s in Seattle.

I would be leery of a private-party sale, but you never know.

Please let us know how you make out.

I'd consider price and availability of replacment bulbs when choosing.

lot of 6 projectors near the coloroado midland roundhouse all tested it says 165$

haven't even checked FB, next door, amazon, etsy, ebay

you can look in freestuff categories and goodwill

buy any projector for a bulb price, and realize you may have to get another, or look for bulbs

I scored a couple of replacement bulbs last week for my carousel on Amazon. Two bulbs were just under $20.

I visited a "thrift store" in a Northern California "retirement" community.  They had half a dozen Kodak carosel projectors for sale!  I bought one for $8.00.....it was in its original box and was still in the shrink-wrap plastic from the factory!

I own both Ektagraphic and conventional Carousel projectors. Strongly recommend the Ektagraphic models. They were intended for professional use, and it shows.

As far as I know projector bulbs are still made, but obviously not in the quantities of the past.  I looked at Ebay just now and there are a number of listings for new EXR bulbs so try browsing there.  I bought a dozen new EXR bulbs a couple of years ago for my Ektagraphic projector.  I'm 68 years old so that might be a lifetime supply lol.
