Steam & Excursion > IAIS steam on the move todayDate: 05/16/19 15:55 IAIS steam on the move today Author: AndyBrown I followed the deadhead move from Newton this morning; a good day to be out!
First photo is checking bearings at Kellogg, just east of Newton; 2nd and 3rd are the awesome runby at Homestead after the yard stop at South Amana. Andy Date: 05/16/19 16:00 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: MaryMcPherson We'll be meeting her in Chillicothe tomorrow.
Mary McPherson Dongola, IL Diverging Clear Productions Date: 05/16/19 16:06 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: CNW8531 Nice shots, Andy. I like the way that engine looks after being "Americanized" and given the IAIS touch. Classy unit!

Out Date: 05/16/19 17:35 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: ns1000 Great pics!!
Date: 05/16/19 17:36 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: utwazoo That engine would really great without the elephant ears; and what's with the red lightning stripe?
Date: 05/16/19 17:39 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: stevelv Nice coverage Andy. It looks like you had some wonderful Spring weather for your chase.
Date: 05/16/19 18:12 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: AndyBrown Thanks for all the kind remarks!
I think the stripe was added to kind of tie the unit in with the Gevos, since they have a similar Z-stripe. Andy Date: 05/16/19 18:14 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: CA_Sou_MA_Agent CNW8531 Wrote:

Steam engines are a lot of things, but they're not "units." Date: 05/17/19 05:52 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: robj Nice set, great to see.

MILW86A Date: 05/17/19 09:00 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: march_hare That’s a great look for that engine. Just the right touch of Americanization. And keep the elephant ears!

Yes I MacGyvered it with a couple of nylon straps from Menards in Altoona; if I hit the brakes too hard the rear tire would rub on the fender but otherwise we survived. I'm thinking about a permanent fix now, but glad to be home! Andy Date: 05/17/19 14:47 Re: IAIS steam on the move today Author: atsf121 Great photos
