On February 25, 1998 the Snow Rotaries are clearing the Roseville Sub just west of Soda Springs, Ca around 11:00am. I was graciously invited to join up with Vic Neves, Ken Meeker, and 2 others where I quickly learned to position myself in the center of the arc of snow vs. at the end where chunks of hard snow and ice could knock you silly.

A late running Amtrak #5 is westbound through Stanfords Flat in the heart of Coldstream Canyon just west of Truckee, California on a cold November 2000 afternoon. The road into Coldstream Canyon is still navigible at this early season date which allowed me to venture far into the canyon by SUV and snowshoe the remainder of the way to Stanfords Flat.

Snowshoes, hardcore! I love the new style ones I have, though I need to get 12 inch tails to carry me in powder....

I purchased the plastic lightweight kind at REI for around $90 on sale. They have extensions that you clip on for deep power. Snowshoeing is great excercise as well.
