CSX Surging Traffic Prompts 'One Plan' to Relieve Congestion
The pump price surge has accentuated a longer trend toward the use of rail instead of trucks for long-distance shipment of products, according to Gary Sease, spokesman for the CSX Corp. Increasing freight-traffic backups at CSX's Selkirk, New York, railyard, among other busy facilities, prompted the company to develop a "One Plan" to thin out congestion at choke points. Selkirk is CSX's Northeast Region headquarters and the crossroads for freight traffic hauled by the company on the Boston-Cleveland and Montreal-Richmond, Va., routes.
